Visual Design for Researchers Workshop
Time: 10am-3pm Monday 14th November 2011
Place: Room 102 , Forestry building 48, ANU

Would you like to know more about visual design for creating a visual research output, like a poster or presentation? Would you like to improve your visual communication skills or just want to learn more about how to approach visual design?
The Visual Design for Researchers workshop aims to help you get started with the visual design process you need for your research.

1 - How to Approach Visual Communication for Research
2 - Improve your Aesthetic Literacy and Creative Capacity
3 - How to Approach the Design Process
Lunch (bring your own or buy on campus)
4 - Practical exercises on how to construct a visual research output: (1) Outlining and interpreting the brief, (2) gathering background research, (3) generating a concept, (4) concept development, (5) finalising the design, (6) constructing the presentation.
5 – How to pull it all together
1 - Any coloured pens/pencils and paper you have lying around
2 - An idea for a visual output (eg. poster, presentation, illustration), either for your own work or made up.
3 - Any books/magazines etc, with examples, ideas or images you like
About Us:
Viveka will be running these sessions informally but hopes both to generate discussion and impart a greater understanding of how to improve your visual design skills. Viveka has been teaching design for over five years and part of her research is working towards making design more accessible to researchers.
